[2:43]  1 tc The present translation reads the conjunction, with most medieval Hebrew MSS, LXX, Vulgate, and the Qere. The Kethib lacks the conjunction.

[2:43]  2 sn The reference to people being mixed is usually understood to refer to intermarriage.

[2:43]  3 tn Aram “with the seed of men.”

[2:43]  4 tc The present translation reads הֵיךְ דִּי (hekh diy) rather than the MT הֵא־כְדִי (he-khÿdi). It is a case of wrong word division.

[4:26]  5 sn The reference to heaven here is a circumlocution for God. There was a tendency in Jewish contexts to avoid direct reference to God. Cf. the expression “kingdom of heaven” in the NT and such statements as “I have sinned against heaven and in your sight” (Luke 15:21).

[5:5]  6 tn Aram “came forth.”

[5:5]  7 sn The mention of the lampstand in this context is of interest because it suggests that the writing was in clear view.

[5:5]  8 tn While Aramaic פַּס (pas) can mean the palm of the hand, here it seems to be the back of the hand that is intended.

[11:41]  9 sn The beautiful land is a cryptic reference to the land of Israel.

[11:41]  10 tn This can be understood as “many people” (cf. NRSV) or “many countries” (cf. NASB, NIV, NLT).

[11:41]  11 tn Heb “be delivered from his hand.”
